Delegation of the French twin-city in a RSTU
On February, 22nd, 2012 a delegation of Administration of Le Mans (France) - a twin-city of of Rostov-on-Don - led by the mayor, Mr. Jean-Claude Boulard visited our university during a short working trip.
Mr. Jean-Claude Boulard visited RSTU in September 2009. He took part in celebration of the Day of Knowledge and greeted freshmen of fine student′s brotherhood of our university.
During their visit on the eve of men holiday - Day of the Defender of Fatherland - Le Mans mayor, Mr. Jean-Claude Boulard, and the head of a tourist bureau, the Honourable professor of RSTU Mr. Jean-Paul Couasnon held a planned meeting with the rector, the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I.Kolesnikov. They discussed questions of extension of educational, scientific and cultural contacts between RSTU and establishments in Le Mans. So, Mr. Jean-Claude Boulard expressed readiness for expansion of grant support from the Mayor′s office of Le Mans for Master students of RSTU, trained in the project of "Two diplomas" with the University of Maine, and also programs of the academic exchange of students, post-graduate students and teachers of RSTU and the University of Maine, including carrying out professional and scientific training of post-graduate students and the faculty of the University of Maine in 2012 on the basis of innovative research infrastructure of RSTU. Before long will we see a tour of creative teamgroups of RSTU to department of Sarthe (Le Mans is its administrative centre).
During their visit our guests have met students and teachers of RSTU, who are active participants of the international projects of the university. Mr. Jean-Claude Boulard has given an open lecture, in which he outlined the basic questions of economic and political integration of incorporated Europe and modern calls which the western society should face. Our French colleagues have a very interesting vision of changes which have occurred recently in a political, social and economic life of the Russian society.
Teachers, post-graduate students and students of RSTU (and the number of RSTU students who achieved success in the field of studying of the French language is growing!) with a big interest and enthusiasm participated in the discussion, and even after the end of the meeting high French visitors were still held up by agitated discussion on various subjects of the Russian-French relations and development of forms of co-operation of RSTU and establishments in Le Mans.
